GANTRY FOR LINE ASSEMBLY IN THE GUADARRAMA TUNNEL ON THE MADRID-VALLADOLID HIGH SPEED RAIL (AVE) LINE.

Mobile gantry designed to transport and fit auxiliary tracks in the Guadarrama tunnel being built for the Madrid-Valladolid high speed rail line.
The gantry consists of a structure comprising two heads mounted on two axles with steerable driving wheels. It has an upper structure with a height of almost four metres and is almost 12 metres long. Four winches are mounted on the upper structure, with special railway anchorings to allow the transport and location of rail.
It uses various electric motors for movement, turning and winches. These are powered by an on-board generator with a 500 litre tank.
The gantry has four possible operator positions, as shown on the graphics and diagrams, and also has its own lighting system. The gantry is controlled from a console which can be located in the four possible positions, with 2 plugs for rapid connection/disconnection. The console, which has a 6" colour touch screen, various pushbuttons and a joystick, allows the operator to move forward, back, turn the four head axes and control the winches with individual or combined movements. Also, for greater convenience in the handling of rails and winches there is a crane-type control to control the movement of winches from the ground. The gantry is designed to be able to be dismantled and transported easily so that the electrical connections between the separable parts are joined by pluggable safety connectors.
